Let's begin. ✨📖

━━━ ✦ ━━━

The courtroom was packed.

Reporters filled the back rows, cameras ready.

The victim sat beside her parents, her mother's hand tightly holding hers.

Across the courtroom, Aarav Malhotra sat comfortably, his confidence untouched. The Chief Minister's son looked as though the entire case was nothing more than an inconvenience.

Beside him, his lawyer, Advocate Rajiv Mehra, leaned closer.

"Don't worry, beta. This is just a formality. We will win."

Aarav checked his watch with a careless smile.

"I know, uncle. Just finish it quickly. I want to attend a party tonight."

At the centre of the courtroom stood Anushka Rajvanshi.

Calm.

Sharp.

Unshaken.

She didn't need to raise her voice to command attention.

Justice Vikramaditya Singh looked toward.

"proceed."

Rajiv immediately stood.

"My client is innocent, Your Honour."

He pointed toward the victim.

"That girl tried to provoke my client. She tried to seduce him."

Anushka slowly looked at him.

A faint smile touched her lips.

"Seduce?"

She tilted her head.

"Provoke?"

Her gaze hardened.

"Mr. Mehra, before questioning a nineteen-year-old girl's character, question the maturity of the 28 years old man sitting behind you."

Rajiv's face tightened.

"I beg your pardon "

"You don't."

Anushka stepped closer.

"She's nineteen. And you're claiming she seduced a 28 year old man?"

She stared directly into his eyes.

"Do you even hear yourself?"

Rajiv struggled for a response.

Then he pointed toward the victim.

"Fine. But what about her clothes? She was wearing inappropriate clothes. She was practically begging for—"

"Begging?"

Anushka's voice cut through the courtroom.

She walked toward the centre.

"Tell me, Mr. Mehra. What should a swimmer wear?"

He blinked.

"What?"

"You heard me."

She turned toward him.

"A saree? A salwar kameez? A lehenga?"

Her voice hardened.

"Or should she abandon her dreams because men like your client cannot control themselves?"

She looked toward the victim.

"That girl is a state-level swimmer. She has won medals. She has made the State proud."

Her eyes returned to Rajiv.

"She wore the same swimsuit every swimmer in the world wears."

A pause.

"And you want to blame her for that?"

She stepped closer.

"Tell me, Mr. Mehra..."

"What should a woman wear?"

Rajiv's face reddened.

"This is a court of law, Anushka. Not your personal stage."

Anushka didn't even blink.

"Correct."

She closed the file.

"So act like you're in one."

Rajiv slammed his palm against the table.

"Evidence matters! Not your emotional speeches. The girl saw a rich man and wanted his money. She played the victim."

Anushka smiled.

Cold.

Sharp.

"Interesting."

She turned toward the judge.

"When criminals run out of facts, Your Honour..."

Her gaze returned to Rajiv.

"...they begin attacking the victim."

She opened another file.

"You asked for evidence."

She placed the documents before the judge.

"CCTV footage. Medical reports. Digital records. Witness statements."

Then she looked at Rajiv.

"And yet you still chose to attack a nineteen-year-old girl instead of the evidence."

She closed the file.

"Maybe that's because the evidence is already damning."

Aarav finally leaned forward.

His arrogant smile returned.

"Call her whatever you want."

He looked toward the victim.

"She's still lying. If she wasn't interested, why was she alone with me?"

Anushka turned toward him.

"You're right."

Her voice remained calm.

"She was alone with you."

She took a step forward.

"But she was also alone with her coach. With her teammates. With her dreams."

Her eyes hardened.

"She stayed behind to practice for her state-level championship."

A pause.

"She had a future."

She looked directly at Aarav.

"You stayed behind because you thought you could take it from her."

The victim slowly stood.

Her voice trembled.

"I had my state-level championship after two days. My coach wasn't feeling well, so I asked permission to continue practising."

She swallowed.

"Everyone left."

Her eyes lowered.

"I stayed."

Then she looked at Aarav.

"That's all."

Aarav laughed.

"Nice story."

His voice dropped.

"Once I get bail, I'll come back to you."

He smiled.

"To complete what I left incomplete."

Anushka slowly walked toward him.

She stopped beside his chair and leaned closer.

Her voice was barely above a whisper.

"You just try to stay in jail."

Aarav looked up.

Anushka's eyes turned cold.

“Because if you ever walk out...”

She paused, her voice dropping to a deadly whisper.

“...you won't be afraid of death anymore.”

A faint, dangerous smile touched her lips.

“You’ll be afraid of me.”

Aarav's expression darkened.

His hand suddenly caught Anushka's shoulder—tight, bruising, arrogant.

"Ya... kya ukhad legi tu?"

(Yeah... what will you do?)

He sneered.

"Mujhe maregi?"

(You'll kill me?)

His grip tightened. His nails dug into her skin.

"Tu jaise slut... mujhe kya kar sakti hai?"

(A slut like you... what can you do to me?)

He leaned closer. His voice dropped to a disgusting whisper.

"Mere baap ka naam suna hai? CM ka beta hoon main. Tu toh bas ek lawyer hai... mere saamne kuch nahi."

(You've heard my father's name? I'm the CM's son. You're just a lawyer... nothing in front of me.)

Anushka looked at his hand.

Then at him.

For one second she said nothing.

Her expression remained calm.

Unreadable.

Then

She moved.

The courtroom erupted in shock.

Aarav cried out as Anushka struck back with terrifying precision.

A small knife appeared in her palm.

CRACK.

She cut off his fingers.

One. Two. Three. Four. Five.

Blood sprayed across the white marble.

Aarav's screams filled the courtroom.

"AAAHHHHH! MERI UNGLIYAN! MERI—"

(MY FINGERS! MY—)

But Anushka wasn't finished.

She grabbed his jaw. Forced his mouth open.

"Tu bolta rahega na?"

(You'll keep talking, won't you?)

Her voice was calm. Cold. Terrifyingly steady.

"Toh ab bol..."

(So now speak...)

She cut off his tongue.

Blood gushed from his mouth. His body convulsed.

He clawed at the air, at his throat, at anything—but there was no escape.

Anushka stepped back.

Her expression remained unchanged.

Her white saree was now crimson.

"Ab bol..."

(Now speak...)

She tilted her head.

"Kya ukhad legi main?"

(What will I do?)

A pause.

"Tune abhi dekha na..."

(You just saw...)

Her voice dropped.

"...ki main kya ukhad sakti hoon."

(...what I can do.)

The courtroom was dead silent.

No one dared to move.

No one dared to breathe.

The guards stood frozen. The judge sat motionless.

The reporters held their cameras too shocked to even click.

Only one person stood calm.

Anushka Rajvanshi.

She turned toward Justice Vikramaditya Singh.

"You are the eyewitness, My Lord."

Her voice was steady.

"You saw how he touched me."

She looked around the courtroom.

"You saw how he threatened me."

Then her eyes returned to Aarav.

"And everyone was silent."

She straightened her coat.

"I protected myself."

And for the first time that day...

Aarav Malhotra looked like a man who had finally understood his father's power couldn't save him from Anushka Rajvanshi.

The moment Anushka stepped outside the courthouse, the media rushed toward her.

Microphones were pushed forward.

Cameras flashed from every direction.

Reporters called her name over one another.

"Advocate Anushka Rajvanshi!"

"Ma'am, one question!"

"Do you regret what happened inside the courtroom?"

Anushka stopped.

She slowly turned toward them.

Her white saree remained perfectly in place, her black coat still resting over her shoulders. Her expression was calm, almost disturbingly calm, as though the chaos behind her had nothing to do with her.

One reporter stepped forward.

"You attacked the accused in front of the judge. Do you regret taking the law into your own hands?"

Anushka looked directly into the camera.

A faint smile appeared.

"Regret?"

She tilted her head.

"My only regret is that I didn't stop his breath instead of stopping his tongue."

The reporters fell quiet for a second.

Another microphone immediately came forward.

"But he's the Chief Minister's son. Aren't you afraid of the consequences?"

Anushka's smile disappeared.

"Afraid?"

She looked around at the cameras.

"You should ask that question to the people who still believe a powerful surname makes a man untouchable."

Another reporter shouted.

"Are you saying you don't fear the Chief Minister?"

Anushka gave a small, almost amused smile.

"I don't fear people."

A pause.

"I fear becoming the kind of person who watches injustice happen and does nothing."

The cameras continued flashing.

Another reporter pushed forward.

"What about the compensation? His family is extremely powerful."

Anushka's expression turned almost playful.

"Go ask CM Sahab how much compensation he wants."

She raised an eyebrow.

"One lakh?"

A pause.

"Ten lakh?"

She looked directly into the camera.

"Crores?"

Her voice became colder.

"Name the price."

The reporters stared.

Anushka adjusted the sleeve of her coat.

"I'm ready to pay."

A reporter immediately asked,

"And if they come after you?"

Anushka smiled.

Not nervously.

Not arrogantly.

Almost confidently enough to be frightening.

"Then they should come prepared."

She turned away from the cameras.

One final question followed her.

"Anushka! What do you want people to remember from today's case?"

She stopped.

For a moment, she looked back.

Her eyes settled on the camera.

"That a woman's character is not evidence of a man's innocence."

A pause.

"And power is never permission."

Then she walked away.

The cameras kept flashing behind her.

The reporters kept shouting questions.

But Anushka Rajvanshi never looked back.

Because she had already said everything she wanted them to hear.

The Rajvanshi Mansion had been unusually restless since morning.

Everyone had seen the news.

Everyone knew Anushka Rajvanshi was finally back after four years.

Everyone...

Except Sitara.

She had absolutely no idea what was happening.

The entire family had been waiting for Anushka to come home.

Nandini checked the time again.

"When is she coming? It's already been more than hours since she returned."

Vikram calmly looked at her.

"She's on the way. Just wait."

Aryaveer couldn't resist.

"Chachi, what if Anu Di went back again?"

Thap!

Anika hand landed on his head.

"Shut up, bhandara. Anu Di will pakka come."

(Shut up, you troublemaker. Anu Di will definitely come.)

Everyone laughed.

Nandini turned toward Vikram with an exasperated look.

"I told you. We should've just bought dogs and raised them."

Vikram raised an eyebrow.

She continued.

"But no. You wanted children."

She pointed around the room.

"Now look at us. One has been missing for a year, another hasn't come home for four years, and the last one lives in this house but is practically invisible."

The family burst into laughter.

Even Dada Ji shook his head.

Then

A car stopped outside.

Everyone's attention immediately shifted toward the entrance.

The doors opened.

And Anushka walked inside.

Nandini didn't even wait.

She rushed toward her and pulled her into a tight hug.

"Now you remember this house?"

Anushka laughed softly.

"Mom, stop. I'm not a child anymore."

She hugged her mother back.

"I'm here now. Happy?"

Vikram smiled.

"Nandini, let her breathe first."

Nandini finally released her.

Anushka immediately turned toward Vikram and hugged him.

"Missed you, Dad."

Vikram patted her head.

"Welcome home, beti."

One by one, she greeted everyone.

The family eventually settled around the dining table for dinner.

Sitara sat quietly, but her eyes kept drifting toward Anushka.

Anushka noticed.

She smiled at her.

"Hi, Sitara. I'm Anu, Nandini's daughter."

Sitara immediately smiled.

"Hello. Chachi told me so many things about you."

Anushka's smile widened.

"I have done even more things that they don't know about."

She leaned slightly closer.

"I'll tell you later."

Sitara's eyes widened with curiosity.

But she simply smiled and returned her attention to her plate.

Well...

Most of her attention.

Because the other half was still secretly focused on Rudradev.

Rudradev noticed.

His father noticed too.

Virendra finally spoke loudly.

"Rudra, stop staring and focus on your plate."

Rudradev didn't even look away.

"First, leave my mother hand alone and let her eat."

Virendra's face immediately turned red.

Meera's face turned red too.

Virendra stared at his son.

"Haramkhor..."

(You brat...)

He pointed at him.

"Why did you even come back?"

Meera immediately sighed.

"Enough. Both of you. Just eat."

A few chuckles escaped around the table.

Nandini suddenly looked around.

"Where is Reyansh?"

The moment she asked...

Everyone's eyes slowly moved toward Anushka.

Anushka didn't react.

She simply continued eating.

Kabir quickly answered.

"He's coming. He went out for some work."

Anushka's fingers paused for barely a second.

Then she continued eating as if she hadn't heard the name.

But her eyes had changed.

After dinner, everyone slowly returned to their rooms.

Soon, only Dada Ji, Dadi Ji, Vikram, Nandini, Virendra, Meera and Anushka remained.

Dada Ji looked at Anushka.

"You know what you've done today, Anu?"

Anushka simply nodded.

Dada Ji sighed.

"The CM's men are searching for you everywhere, beti."

A small smile appeared on Anushka's lips.

“Let them, Dada.”

She leaned back comfortably, a faint smirk playing on her lips.

“If they're desperate enough to find me...”

Her eyes turned cold.

“...let them come.”

A pause.

“But they should remember one thing...”

Her smile sharpened.

“They may come looking for me... but they won't be leaving alive.”

Nandini immediately glared at her.

"Anu, don't you dare leave this house again. I'm warning you."

Anushka rolled her eyes.

"Okay, Mom. Now chill."

She smiled.

"How many times are you going to tell me the same thing?"

Everyone laughed softly.

Then Anushka's eyes suddenly moved toward the doorway.

She stopped.

Someone was standing there.

Reyansh.

He was casually drinking coffee as though nothing in the world had happened.

Anushka stared at him.

For four years...

she had imagined this moment.

And now that it was finally here

she smiled.

She walked toward him.

Stopping just a few feet away, she tilted her head.

"You're still alive?"

Reyansh slowly lowered his cup.

A smirk appeared.

"Disappointed?"

Anushka's smirk.

Her hand moved beneath her coat.

She pulled out her gun.

The entire family froze.

She raised it.

Pointed directly at him.

Her eyes locked with his.

"Don't worry."

Her voice was calm.

Almost frighteningly calm.

"I'm going to kill you now."

BANG!

The gunshot shattered the room.

The bullet flew past Reyansh's shoulder and slammed into the wall behind him.

BANG!

Plaster cracked from the impact.

Everyone screamed.

But Reyansh didn't move.

He simply stood there...

staring at her.

And smiling.

Because after four years of hatred, anger, and unfinished business

he finally had to face her.

Anushka stepped closer.

Her gun remained pointed directly at him.

Her voice dropped to a deadly whisper.

“You better release them...”

Her eyes hardened.

“...if you don't want to die by my hands.”

The muzzle of Anushka’s gun rested directly over his heart.

Reyansh didn't move.

Didn't flinch.

He only looked down at the gun for a second before lifting his eyes back to hers.

A slow, shameless smirk curved across his lips.

“I still get hard when I see that angry look on your face…”

His voice dropped, dangerously calm.

“Four years…”

“And somehow, you still know exactly how to make me lose control.”

Anushka’s jaw tightened.

Her finger settled more firmly against the trigger.

Her eyes remained cold.

“Last time, I made the mistake of missing.”

She stepped closer, pressing the barrel harder against his chest.

Her eyes burned with pure hatred.

“You arrogant fucking bastard...”

She pressed the gun harder.

“Next time...”

Her gaze locked with his.

“...I won't fucking miss.”

Reyansh’s smirk only deepened.

“Then pull the trigger, Sweetie.”

A beat of silence.

“But remember…”

His eyes darkened.

“If you kill me…”

“…you'll have to live with the fact that you were the last thing I ever wanted.”

Before her finger could move to trigger

Reyansh’s hand shot up.

Fast.

Precise.

He twisted her wrist just enough to break her aim, and in one smooth motion, the gun was out of her grip.

Anushka reacted instantly, stepping back, her eyes blazing.

But he didn’t aim it at her.

Didn’t even raise it.

He simply looked at it for a second… then exhaled a low laugh.

“Still the same grip…” he murmured.

Then he turned.

“Come here.”

Anushka didn’t move.

“Reyansh...”

“Come here,” he repeated, softer this time. Not a command. Something else.

Reluctantly, she stepped forward.

He caught her hand mid-air.

The same hand that had just tried to kill him.

Slowly, deliberately, he placed the gun back into her palm.

His fingers lingered for a second longer than necessary.

Anushka’s breath hitched.

Reyansh leaned in.

Close enough that his voice brushed her skin.

“And you know what’s worse than your aim?”

A pause.

His thumb traced lightly over her knuckles.

“You still smell the same...”

His eyes lifted to hers.

“…sweetie.”

Anushka's eyes flashed with fury.

She immediately pulled her hand away from his.

“You arrogant asshole...”

Her jaw clenched.

“Four years, and you're still the same fucking bastard.”

She raised the gun slightly, her gaze turning ice-cold.

“Keep calling me ‘sweetie’...”

A dangerous pause.

“...and I'll give you a reason to remember my name.”

Anushka held his gaze for one last second.

The hatred in her eyes was impossible to miss.

Pure.
Unforgiving.

She turned sharply and walked away.

Nobody spoke.

Nobody dared to.

Every pair of eyes shifted toward Reyansh.

He hadn't moved.

His gaze remained fixed on her retreating figure, his eyes burning with something no one in the room could name.

Anger?

Amusement?

Or something far more dangerous?

No one knew.

Reyansh slowly took another sip of his coffee.

A faint, unreadable smile touched his lips.

Buzz...

His phone vibrated in his pocket.

He pulled it out, glanced at the screen, and quickly typed a reply.

Then he slipped the phone back into his pocket.

Without saying a word...

he followed the path she had taken.
