Let's begin. 📖✨
━━━ ✦ ━━━
The night had settled over the Rajvanshi Mansion.
Most of the house had gone quiet.
But inside Rudradev Rajvanshi's private office...
the silence was different.
Heavy.
Controlled.
Rudradev sat behind his massive desk, one hand resting against the armrest while his eyes moved slowly through the documents in front of him.
The soft ticking of the antique clock was the only sound in the room.
Then
Knock. Knock.
Rudradev didn't look up.
“Come in.”
The door opened.
Daksh Pratap stepped inside, a file held firmly in his hand.
He walked toward the desk and stopped in front of him.
“Sir...”
Rudradev finally lifted his eyes.
Daksh placed the file on the desk.
“I found something about Palak.”
Rudradev's expression remained unreadable.
“Where is she?”
“She went to her mother's house, Sir.”
Rudradev's fingers stopped against the armrest.
Daksh hesitated.
There was something else.
Something he clearly wasn't sure how to say.
Rudradev noticed immediately.
“What else?”
Daksh opened the file.
“Sir... Palak's husband is a thief.”
Rudradev's eyes sharpened.
“What?”
“Yes, Sir.”
Daksh turned a page.
“His name is Rakesh. He married Palak about a year ago. He's a local thief and has already been arrested more than twice.”
Rudradev leaned back slightly.
Daksh continued.
“His family believes he works as a watchman for Orin Company.”
He paused.
“But that company went bankrupt years ago.”
Another page turned.
“After that, he started stealing.”
Rudradev's expression hardened.
“When did Palak start working here?”
“A year ago, Sir.”
For a moment, Rudradev said nothing.
Then
“The workers and servants were selected by Mom and Chachi, right?”
Daksh nodded.
“Yes, Sir.”
He hesitated before continuing.
“Meera Ma'am recommended Palak... at Sitara Madam's request.”
Rudradev's eyes immediately lifted.
“Rani Sa?”
“Yes, Sir.”
Daksh closed the file halfway.
“Meera Ma'am and Sitara Madam had gone to the temple that day. Madam saw Palak there.”
A brief pause.
“Palak asked Madam if she could help her find work in the mansion.”
Rudradev's gaze dropped back to the file.
His voice turned quiet.
“Did you find out what Rani Sa has done during this past year?”
Daksh hesitated.
That hesitation was enough.
Rudradev looked up.
“Daksh.”
“No, Sir.”
Daksh's voice lowered.
“Virendra Sir gave strict orders to the servants and guards not to tell anything about Madam.”
A faint smirk touched Rudradev's lips.
“Then what about our guards?”
Daksh sighed.
“Sir, our guards are stationed outside the mansion. They're only allowed inside with Virendra Sir's permission.”
Rudradev's smirk deepened.
“Then you know where to get the information.”
Daksh looked at him.
Rudradev's voice became colder.
“Bring them in.”
A pause.
“Ask them everything.”
Daksh nodded.
“Yes, Sir.”
He turned toward the door.
“Daksh.”
He stopped.
Rudradev's eyes remained cold.
“I want every detail.”
“Yes, Sir.”
Daksh left.
The door closed behind him.
Silence returned.
Rudradev slowly rose from his chair and walked toward the window.
The moon hung high above the mansion.
His eyes remained fixed on it for a moment before a faint, amused smirk touched his lips.
He slipped one hand into his pocket.
“So... Dad even placed guards outside my Rani Sa's room.”
A slow smirk curved across his lips.
“Funny.”
His gaze shifted toward Sitara's room.
“He really thinks a few guards can keep me away from my own wife.”
A low chuckle escaped him.
“Let him believe that.”
His eyes darkened.
“He'll learn soon enough...”
“No one decides where Rudradev Rajvanshi can go.”
And somewhere across the mansion...
behind a half-open balcony door...
the woman at the centre of his investigation was sleeping peacefully.
Completely unaware that her husband had just begun digging deeper into the life she didn't even remember.
The room was filled with the silent breath of Sitara.
Moonlight streamed through the open windows, spilling across the floor like liquid silver.
The balcony doors were slightly ajar, allowing the night breeze to drift in caressing her face, her body, her soul.
She wore a baby pink nightdress a soft cotton shirt and matching long pants.
Comfortable. Innocent. Utterly unguarded.
She was sleeping on her stomach, her face turned slightly to the side, her lips parted just enough to let the softest breaths escape.
There was no darkness in this room.
Everywhere dim, gentle light.
The ceiling was a masterpiece of stars and moon.
Tiny glowing constellations painted across the surface, casting a dreamy, ethereal glow over everything beneath.
It was like sleeping inside a galaxy.
Then the balcony door opened.
A figure stepped inside.
Another than Rudradev.
The man who was the definition of fear itself.
He moved like a thief silent, calculated, unseen.
He closed the balcony door behind him without making a sound.
His eyes swept across the room, scanning every corner, every shadow.
Then they landed on her.
He stood in front of her bed.
His voice was barely a whisper. Almost to himself.
"Why did she open every window and door? Anyone could come in so easily..."
He shook his head.
"Does she have no sense of danger?"
Then his eyes moved lower.
And he saw them.
Golu and Molu.
The two puppies.
Golu was sleeping on her chest, curled into a tiny ball of black fur.
The other Molu was nestled near her neck, her white fur blending with the moonlight.
Rudradev's jaw tightened.
"Why are those dogs sleeping with her?"
He stepped closer.
Molu woke up immediately.
"Woof! Woof! Woof!"
The tiny puppy barked furiously, her tiny body vibrating with indignation.
Sitara stirred slightly. Her hand moved. Her lips murmured something unintelligible.
But she didn't wake up.
Rudradev moved with lightning speed.
One hand scooped up Molu. The other grabbed Golu who was now also awake and barking.
He carried both puppies to the balcony. Placed them outside.
He closed the door.
"You both should watch the balcony... not my Rani Sa."
The puppies barked angrily through the glass. Their tiny paws scratched at the door.
Rudradev ignored them.
He walked back to her bed.
She was sleeping so peacefully.
So innocent.
So unaware that the Devil King himself was standing in her room, watching her breathe.
Her nightdress had shifted slightly in her sleep.
Her mangalsutra his chain, his claim lay perfectly between her breasts, a thin line of gold catching the moon like something holy left on soft skin.
His gaze briefly followed the curve of her cleavage before he forced his eyes away, his jaw tightening.
But his eyes betrayed him.
They drifted back down...
then lower...
and lower.
"Fuck..."
He ran a hand through his hair.
"Why is she sleeping like this...?"
His hand moved toward the glass of water on the bedside table.
He picked it up. Brought it to his lips.
And then
Sitara's voice cut through the silence.
Loud. Sleepy. Demanding.
“Areyy... badmaash! Mera Cupcake mat khaaooo... woh mera hai!” ("Heyyy... you rascal! Don't eat my cake... that's mine!")
Rudradev froze.
The glass slipped.
Water spilled all over his shirt. Some splashed onto the bed.
Some soaked into Sitara's nightdress.
But Sitara the queen of unconsciousness didn't wake up.
She shifted slightly. Mumbled something incoherent. And continued sleeping.
Rudradev stared at her.
"What... just happened?"
He placed the glass back on the table.
His shirt was completely soaked.
Without hesitation he pulled it off.
Moonlight fell on his body.
The hard eight-pack, the broad line of his shoulders, the carved plane of his chest under the painted stars.
A body built for violence, stripped bare in a girl’s quiet room.
He walked toward the bathroom. Grabbed a towel. Wiped himself dry.
Then he took another towel.
And walked back to her bed.
He sat beside her.
Gently so gently he began to dry the water droplets on her.
His fingers brushed her skin.
Soft. Warm. Dangerous.
He finished.
He set the towel aside and started to get up from the bed.
But then he felt her hand move.
Her fingers slid across his stomach. Gripped his skin.
He stopped.
Not because she was strong.
Because her touch made him forget he was supposed to leave.
He looked down at her hand small, delicate, completely unaware of what it was doing. And yet, it held him in place like chains.
She pulled.
Not hard. Not forceful. Just a gentle, sleepy tug.
And he stayed.
He let himself be pulled back down onto the mattress beside her his face landing right in the crook of her neck.
He told himself it was because he didn't want to wake her.
He told himself it was easier to just wait until she let go.
He told himself a thousand lies.
But the truth was simple.
He didn't want to leave.
He paused.
Inhaled slowly.
Her familiar scent filled his lungs.
Soft. Warm. Addictive.
It made his head spin.
"My cupcake..."
She mumbled.
Just a sleepy whisper. She was completely out of it talking in her sleep.
He tried to ease away.
Slowly. Carefully.
He shifted his weight, preparing to lift himself off the bed.
He looked at her face for a second peaceful, innocent, completely unaware.
He told himself to get up.
He told himself this was wrong.
He told himself to leave before he did something he couldn't take back.
He started to move.
Then she tugged harder.
Her fingers dug into his skin. Pulling his body flush against hers.
His lips hovered just inches from hers.
Her warm breath hit his mouth soft, slow, teasing.
Not touching.
Not yet.
But close enough to stop his heart.
His mind went blank.
"What the fuck...?"
She pulled him again rolling him onto his back.
He let her.
He could have stopped her with one hand. He could have gotten up and walked away without breaking a sweat.
But he didn't.
Because her body curled against his side. Her face tucked right against his chest. Over his heart.
She settled in. Her cheek pressed to his skin. Her breath warm against him.
She hooked a leg over his locking him in place.
And he stayed.
"Leave me, Rani Sa... before I lose it."
Her hands started moving across his back. Slow, random patterns.
Her nails dug in slightly. Holding onto him like she was afraid he would disappear.
"Don't go... cupcake..."
She murmured.
"I want to eat you."
"Rani Sa..."
His voice was rough yet clam , soft
"I'm not food. leave me..."
He paused.
"What kind of weird dreams are you getting?"
She didn't hear him.
Her mouth drifted lower. Her lips brushed against the edge of his nipple.
The heat of her breath made his skin tingle.
Then her tongue flicked out.
One slow, wet lick.
Rudradev froze.
His body went rigid.
A surge of heat hit him. His vision blurred.
Every instinct told him to flip her over and take control but he forced himself to stay still.
He gripped the sheets. His jaw locked tight.
He breathed through his nose.
Trying to keep himself together.
"Rani Sa... stop it"
She licked him again.
Traced the same spot. Slow and greedy.
Her lips pressed softly against him tasting him in the simplest, most innocent way.
He didn't flinch when people threatened him with knives.
But this...
this was making him shake.
Her nails dug into his back. Locking him in place.
"I want to taste you, cupcake..."
By saying that she licked him again.
More eager this time. Like a child in a hurry to eat chocolate before someone took it away.
He couldn't breathe.
He couldn't think.
His hand moved covering her mouth.
Not to stop her.
To stop himself from making a sound that would wake the whole house.
He was fighting every urge.
Every instinct screamed at him to stop being careful.
To take control.
To forget everything
Then her face crumpled.
Even in sleep, she made a crying face.
Her brows pulled together. Her lips trembled beneath his palm.
A soft, broken sound escaped her throat.
Like he had taken something precious from her.
Like he had betrayed her.
She pushed his hand away without even waking up and went right back to his chest.
Her mouth found his skin again.
Then she bit.
Not a small nip.
Her whole mouth clamped down on the area around his nipple
Claiming the "cherry on top."
Hard enough to hurt.
But it felt like affection.
"AHHHHHH...."
A low, raw groan tore out of him pain and desire tangled together.
"Stop biting....., Rani Sa!"
She didn't let go right away.
She held the bite for a second as if checking if the cupcake was real.
Then released.
She licked the spot one last time.
Smiled.
"Sweet... my cupcake..."
She murmured.
"...tastes good..."
Another whisper.
"...just one more bite..."
She almost went for it again.
But the dream finally faded.
Her grip loosened. She fell into a deeper sleep.
She looked peaceful like she had just won a prize.
Rudradev sat up slowly.
His hand pressed over his chest.
He could still feel the heat where she had bitten him.
He looked down at the teeth marks.
A perfect mark from a girl who thought he was a dessert.
While the rest of the world feared him.
He looked at her.
Soft. Serene.
He ran a hand through his hair his fingers shaking slightly.
"Rani Sa..."
A whisper.
"Wait until morning."
He paused. Glanced at the mark again.
"Such strong teeth..."
A breath of disbelief.
"...stronger than leo." (leo is his pet lion name)
His hand moved toward the bedsheet.
He pulled it up and covered her correctly tucking her in like she was something fragile. Something precious.
Then he picked up the towel he had used to clean her.
He moved toward the bathroom.
An hour passed.
When he emerged, water dripped from his hair following the sharp lines of his jaw, trailing down his neck, over his hard chest, his eight-pack abs.
The droplets caught the moonlight, tracing every ridge of muscle before disappearing into the waistband of his pants.
The bite mark on his chest still looked fresh.
Perfectly visible.
A mark she had left on him.
He walked toward the couch.
Lay down.
His eyes never left her face.
The bedsheet had shifted again no longer covering her properly.
She lay there, soft and unguarded, her nightdress slightly askew.
He stared at her for a long moment, almost bewildered.
How does anyone even sleep like that?
He looked at her again.
Sitara had somehow managed to turn sleeping into an Olympic sport.
One leg was tangled in the blanket.
One arm was stretched above her head.
The other was hugging the pillow like it owed her money.
Her hair was scattered everywhere, half covering her face.
And somehow...
she was sleeping peacefully.
Rudradev stared at her in disbelief.
“Rani Sa...”
He shook his head.
“How do you even sleep like this?”
A pause.
“Are you sleeping... or fighting with bed?”
He took out his phone.
He clicked a photo of the bite mark on his chest.
Then another photo of her sleeping.
Peaceful. Innocent. Beautiful.
She murmured again.
"My cupcake... come to me... I want to eat you..."
Smiled.
For the first time in years a genuine small smile.
Without thinking. Without calculating.
Without fear.
He lay down on the couch, still watching her face.
"Don't make me attached to you, Rani Sa..."
He looked at the ceiling.
"Once I want something..."
His voice dropped.
"I will get it... by death or by kill."
He closed his eyes for a second.
Then he heard her voice.
Small.
Low.
Whisper.
"Cupcake..."
His eyes opened again.
Sitara simply shifted in her sleep, stole another corner of the blanket, and went right back to sleep.
Rudradev stared at her.
“Unbelievable.”
She looked peaceful.
Too peaceful.
And he couldn't look away.
Then her voice came again.
"Cupcake... come to me.."
His voice came out low. A whisper.
"I'll buy a full cupcake factory for you, Rani Sa..."
His gaze softened for the briefest moment.
“Bas ab woh cupcake ka sapna chhod do...”("Just stop that cupcake dream")
A quiet breath.
“...aur so jao.” (and just sleep.)
She shifted again in her sleep.
A soft murmur. A small sigh.
Then silence.
The room filled with stillness.
He closed his eyes again.
But he couldn't rest.
He felt her warmth even from the couch.
He remembered her breath, soft against his skin.
He remembered her lips, just inches from his.
Her nails, tracing random patterns across his back.
Everything.
Every detail.
And it made it impossible to keep his eyes closed.
He opened his eyes.
Sat up on the couch.
Rubbed his face with both hands.
"Fuck..."
He looked at her again.
Still sleeping.
Still peaceful.
Still completely unaware of what she had done to him.
He ran a hand through his damp hair. Water droplets still clinging to the ends.
"What have you done to me, Rani Sa?"
For the first time that night, Rudradev Rajvanshi looked genuinely irritated.
Not at her.
At himself.
Because the woman sleeping peacefully across the room had somehow become the only thing capable of disturbing his perfectly controlled mind.
Outside, Golu and Molu were freezing on the balcony.
Their tiny bodies trembled as they sat pressed against each other.
Both stared through the glass door.
Then they looked at each other.
“Woof.”
If that bark could speak, it would have definitely said
“This is all because of that giant idiot.”
Molu scratched at the glass.
Golu gave Rudradev one last offended glare through the window.
The two puppies curled up together, silently judging the Devil King.
Inside, Rudradev was peacefully staring Sitara.
Outside, his two bodyguards were freezing to death.
Apparently, nobody had warned them that being Rani Sa’s puppies would one day land them on balcony duty...
